Revive Yamuna - Prevent Cancer

To fullfill our objective of addressing environment (soil, water and air) we have started a programme to “Revive Yamuna- Prevent Cancer” in collaboration with Rotary with the following Aims and objectives

Aims and Objectives

The aim of this programm is cleaning of the River Yamuna starting from its entry in Delhi to its exit point and tree plantation along its banks.

  • Reduce the incidence and death rate of cancer and other diseases caused by direct and indirect effects of Yamuna river pollution.
  • Rejuvenate the Soil, by cleaning Yamuna and Hindon Rivers, from entry to exit in Delhi   by installing sewage treatment plants (STPs) to clean the sewage and industrial effluents.
  • Develop and maintain the flood plains of the Yamuna River.
  • Forestation and Development of Parks (tourist attractions) along the river bank to increase the water table of the region.
  • Generate employment for people during implementation and maintenance of the project.  

Proposed Activities

  • ADVOCACY AND NETWORKING with central and state Govt. (Delhi, Haryana and U.P)
  • AWARENESS campaigns
  • ADOPTION OF :
    • Plot of land for forestation to attract rain water
    • Water bodies to rejuvenate ground water. 
    • Community water harvesting by Rotary Club in conjunction with industry through CSR grants.
    • Tributaries of Najafgarh and Shahadra drains to encourage public and industry partnership in adopting measures to stop inflow of industrial effluents and also clean existing pollutants.
    • Starting Pilot project for getting stretches of drains cleaned; preventing throwing of debris from construction sites & Puja material.
