Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre (DRMC)

Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre (DRMC) is an affordable Supportive and Palliative Care Medical Centre. It is a unit of Dharamshila Cancer Foundation And Research Centre and is affiliated with Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (DNSH). DRMC is located at Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi (India) 1.5Km from DNSH.

Motivation for Starting Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre

Our experience of caring for patients with cancer has taught us that people with incurable diseases can also live for months to years to decades, provided they start the supportive and if need be Palliative Care immediately after it is confirmed that their disease is not curable. Living with any incurable illness is difficult for patients and their families/carers. All they want is RELIEF/RAHAT from their pain, misery, depression, dependency and the stigma of the disease and that is what Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre aims to do, so that their quality of life improves and they can live with diginity.

There is gradual increase in the number of patients requiring supportive and palliative care in India. Increasing longitivity, life style changes, lack of focus on prevention of diseases and their early detection, has resulted in a disaster. Currently about 57 lac patients in India, have no access to supportive and palliative care.
Although there are multiple Palliative Care Centres in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat, there is not a single exclusive, stand alone, dedicated Palliative Care Centre in the entire North India. To fulfil the gap between the demand and supply, Dharamshila accepted the challenge to start North India’s first, stand alone, integrated and dedicated palliative centre to provide holistic, multidisciplinary Supportive and Palliative Care at Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre.
