
Dr. Suversha Khanna was born in Lahore (undivided India) in 1945. After doing her graduation from Lady Harding Medical College, Delhi University in 1967, she did her Post Graduation in Peadiatirics from Kalavati Saran Children Hospital, New Delhi in 1971. She started her Paediatrics practice and was working as Consultant Paediatrics from 1971 to 1992.
After her father’s death due to cancer in 1988, she wanted to change the CANCER scene in India and started dreaming about setting up a Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre in Delhi.
With the help of other relatives and friends of cancer patients, she registered a Society- Dharamshila Cancer Foundation And Research Centre in 1990. Looking at her passion and commitment to the cause of cancer, Directors of most Regional Cancer Centres of India, helped her tremendously in planning the hospital.
To raise funds for the hospital, she sold off her personal and family assets, went from pillar to post to raise funds, gave up her paediatrics practice and was successful in mobilising the seed money to purchase land, build the hospital building and equip it.
She commissioned first phase of the Dharamshila Hospital And Research Centre with 100 beds on 30th August 1994 and upgraded it to 300 beds in 2008.
She was appointed as the Director of Dharamshila Cancer Hospital And Research Centre in 1994 and promoted to Executive Director in 2001. Her journey from 1990 onwards required Passion, Patience, Perseverance, Persistence and endless work to achieve the goals set up by the Foundation. She has tried her best to achieve the Vision, Mission and Value of Dharamshila Cancer Foundation And Research Centre. There is still a long way to go.
Her commitment to Quality, Environment and Ethics helped her to qualify as the NABH Assessor in 2006 (Ist Batch).
To reduce the cancer burden, she is actively involved in Cancer Prevention. She has delivered innumerable Cancer Awareness Lectures and Published Several Cancer Information Booklets for public and the cancer patients.
She is very religious, committed, dedicated and compassionate person who believes in helping people and giving her 100% for the cause of cancer.
She is recipient of several Awards for recognition of her Humanitarian Services, contribution to progress in oncology in North India and as successful WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR FOR CREATING HISTORY in North India by making state-of-the-art Caner Care Facilities, Available, Accessible and Affordable for the first time in India and last but not the least, she received Award “50 Outstanding women in Healthcare (Global Listing)”
She is member of several prestigious organizations like International Union Against Cancer, Indian Society of Medical and Paediatric Oncology, Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Indian Medical Association, Healthcare providers of India Delhi Medical Association and Rotary Club, Delhi Central.
